13 Foreign Nationals Among Victims in Delhi Hotel Blaze; MEA Assisting Embassies

New Delhi, June 5: In a tragic development following the devastating hotel fire in South Delhi, at least 13 foreign nationals were among the 21 people who lost their lives in the incident, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The massive fire, which broke out in a hotel located in Delhi’s Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar on Wednesday, also left several people injured, including over 20 foreign nationals.

Speaking during a weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the government is actively coordinating with the embassies of the deceased foreign nationals and extending necessary assistance.

According to official details, the deceased foreigners include four citizens from Nigeria, three from Kyrgyzstan, and one each from Mozambique, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Congo, Liberia, and Iraq.

“The Ministry is in contact with all concerned embassies and is facilitating required paperwork while also coordinating with hospital authorities for medical support to the injured,” Jaiswal said.

Authorities confirmed that relief and identification processes are underway, while investigations into the cause of the deadly blaze continue.
