Rajouri, March 27: In a major anti-corruption action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday apprehended a forester and a forest guard red-handed while accepting a bribe in Rajouri district.
According to official sources, the accused officials were caught during a trap operation laid by the ACB following a complaint alleging demand for illegal gratification. The team acted swiftly and nabbed both the officials on the spot while they were accepting the bribe amount.
The accused have been identified as a forester and a forest guard posted in the Forest Department in Rajouri. The bribe was reportedly demanded in exchange for extending official favors to the complainant.
Following the arrest, the ACB team also carried out necessary legal formalities, including the recovery of the bribe money and initiation of further investigation.
A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
This action once again highlights the ACB’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption and ensure accountability in public offices.
