Rajouri Times Report/ Khan
Jammu, Mar 16: Concerns are being raised over the functioning of the JK Attendance system for employees in the Jammu division after several reports surfaced online alleging harassment, misuse of authority, and corruption associated with the system.
The JK Attendance system was introduced to ensure transparency and maintain proper monitoring of employees’ attendance, particularly in the education sector. However, in recent weeks, various reports circulating on social media and other online platforms have highlighted alleged incidents of harassment and misuse linked to some individuals associated with the system.
In the recent past, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) reportedly removed certain individuals from the JK Attendance system following complaints regarding their abusive and uncivilised behaviour. The move was widely welcomed by several education organizations, which appreciated the department for taking action to maintain discipline and professionalism in the system.
Sources also revealed that several letters have been issued from the Directorate directing the removal of nodal persons, including ReTs, Masters, and Teachers, who had been associated with JK Attendance duties. The step is seen as an effort by the authorities to address the growing concerns and streamline the functioning of the system.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in the education sector have also raised objections to what they term as unnecessary deployment of teaching staff in Chief Education Officer (CEO) and Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) offices. According to them, such attachments deprive schools of teachers and adversely affect academic activities.
Education organisations and employees have urged the authorities to immediately withdraw such deployments and ensure that teachers are sent back to their respective schools so that the focus remains on teaching and learning in classrooms.
They have also demanded a fair and transparent inquiry into the alleged illegal deployments in various offices as well as into the functioning of the JK Attendance system. Stakeholders believe that a proper investigation will help identify irregularities and restore confidence among employees.
Employees have appealed to higher authorities in the education department to take necessary corrective measures so that the system functions in a transparent and professional manner, without causing inconvenience or harassment to staff.
