Poonch Shelling: Compassion NGO Voices Concern for Animals, Urges District Support

Rajouri  May 8, 2025 – Following the recent devastating shelling in the Poonch district, Compassion NGO, already actively involved in expressing sympathy for human victims, has now raised serious concerns about the welfare of animals in the affected areas. The organization has urgently appealed to the district administration to extend care and support to these voiceless creatures who are equally impacted by the cross-border hostilities.

In a statement released today, Compassion highlighted that animals, both domestic and stray, are vulnerable to the shelling and its aftermath. They may suffer injuries, trauma, and displacement and lack the means to seek help. The NGO emphasized that, just like humans, these animals are affected by the violence and are in dire need of medical attention, food, shelter, and a safe environment.

Compassion passionately urged the district administration to recognize the plight of these animals and to implement measures to provide them with necessary assistance. They stressed that a compassionate approach necessitates extending care beyond human victims to include all living beings affected by the tragedy. The NGO advocated for the establishment of temporary shelters, provision of veterinary care for injured animals, and ensuring access to food and water, emphasizing that these creatures deserve to be treated with kindness and provided for in these challenging times.Joining Compassion NGO’s compassionate appeal, community leaders Sanjay Sharma and Sajad Bhat have also voiced their deep concern for the animals affected by the recent shelling in Poonch. Both Sharma and Bhat emphasized the vulnerability of these speechless creatures and echoed the call for the district administration to include animal welfare in their relief efforts. They stressed the importance of extending empathy and assistance to all living beings impacted by the violence, underscoring the need to provide them with medical aid, shelter, and sustenance during this difficult time. Their support further amplifies the plea for a humane and comprehensive response to the tragedy in Poonch.
