Unregulated High Tuition Fees in Rajouri’s Private Schools: Will the New Administration Act?

Rajouri, March 7:  Khan :Parents across Rajouri continue to grapple with the burden of exorbitant tuition fees charged by private schools, with no regulatory oversight to keep these institutions in check. Despite repeated complaints and appeals, the issue remains unresolved, leaving families struggling to afford quality education for their children.

In December 2024, concerned parents took their grievances to the then Chief Education Officer (CEO), meeting him through a high-level deputation. However, their appeals fell on deaf ears, as the official remained silent—reportedly due to his close association with private school administrations. This lack of accountability has further emboldened these institutions, allowing them to hike fees at will, unchecked and unchallenged.

With a new Director of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ), and a new Chief Education Officer (CEO) now in office, there is renewed hope that action will finally be taken. Parents and activists are urging the administration to introduce strict regulations, ensure transparency in fee structures, and hold schools accountable for any unjustified fee hikes.

Education is a fundamental right, and no child should be deprived of it due to financial exploitation. The question remains: Will the new administration stand with the parents and ensure fair education policies, or will history repeat itself?
