Rajouri, March 2: (KHAN) A shocking case of financial mismanagement has come to light in the high schools of Doongi Zone, Rajouri district, where the annual grant of ₹50,000, allocated under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, has been allegedly misused. Contrary to the clear-cut directives from the SPD Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which mandate that the annual grant be utilized solely for addressing students’ needs, reports indicate that funds have been diverted towards luxury items for school headmaster rooms, while critical student requirements remain unaddressed. Sources reveal that several schools in the Doongi Zone continue to lack basic infrastructure such as mats, desks, utensils, and blackboards, which are essential for creating a conducive learning environment. Despite the grant’s intended purpose of improving educational facilities, students are forced to endure inadequate classroom conditions due to the alleged misallocation of funds. Furthermore, it has been reported that no purchases were made through the Government e-Marketplace (GEM), and no Village Education Committee (VEC) was involved in the procurement or utilization of funds under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. This blatant disregard for established protocols raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in the handling of public funds. In light of these allegations, there is a growing demand for immediate action. Parents, students, and local stakeholders are urging the Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to constitute a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. If prompt action is not taken, concerned authorities may escalate the issue to the Education Minister and the Lieutenant Governor’s office for intervention. The misuse of funds meant for the betterment of students has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for strict action against those responsible. A transparent probe into the alleged financial irregularities is essential to restore public trust and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan is a flagship program aimed at strengthening the education system, and any deviation from its objectives undermines the very purpose of the initiative. Immediate corrective measures are necessary to ensure that funds are utilized as intended—for the benefit of students and the improvement of educational infrastructure.
