Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir ( Abrar Mughal ) – Compassion AWO (Animal Welfare Organization) has persistently urged the Eo Municipality of Rajouri to take decisive action in addressing the increasing dog menace and to initiate the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program. Despite several requests and formal appeals, the municipality has yet to take meaningful steps toward curbing the growing population of stray dogs and tackling cruelty against themThe rise in stray dog numbers in Rajouri has led to an alarming increase in incidents of dog attacks on humans, posing a serious public safety threat. Moreover, the lack of proper animal care facilities and responsible management of the stray dog population has exacerbated the issue. In addition to public safety concerns, reports of inhumane practices towards these animals have also surfaced, highlighting the need for more compassionate measures to prevent cruelty.Compassion AWO, a dedicated animal welfare organization, has been actively advocating for a structured and humane approach to animal control. One of the key solutions proposed by the organization is the initiation of the ABC program, which focuses on the sterilization of stray dogs to control their population in a humane manner. This method not only ensures the welfare of the animals but also provides long-term relief to the community from the menace posed by unchecked dog populations. The organization has also requested that the municipality take concrete steps to prevent cruelty against dogs, urging that stricter laws be implemented and enforced. Compassion AWO emphasizes that compassion and responsibility should go hand-in-hand in addressing the issue.“We have repeatedly approached the municipality to take a compassionate and systematic approach to address the increasing dog population and to end the cruelty faced by these animals. The lack of action has not only endangered public safety but also perpetuated the cycle of suffering for these innocent animals,” said a spokesperson from Compassion AWO.
The municipality’s delay in implementing an ABC program or taking steps to address cruelty has raised serious concerns among the citizens of Rajouri, many of whom have voiced their distress over the situation. Compassion AWO urges the municipality to recognize the urgency of this issue and take immediate action to protect both the community and the animals in need.
Compassion AWO calls for collaborative efforts between local authorities, animal welfare organizations, and the public to implement sustainable solutions that prioritize both human and animal welfare. The organization remains committed to supporting the municipality in its efforts to create a safer, more compassionate environment for all residents of Rajouri.
